Par Grace Dieu, Monmouthshire

Historical Description

Par Grace Dieu, formerly extra-parochial, now a parish in Monmouthshire, 5½ miles W of Monmonth. Acreage, 388; population, 16. The Cistercian abbey of Par Grace Dieu was founded by John of Monmouth in 1229. It has left few remains, which form part of a barn belonging to the farm which constitutes the parish.
