Cymmer Abbey or Vanner Abbey, Merionethshire

Historical Description

Cymmer Abbey or Vanner Abbey, a ruined Cistercian abbey, 2 miles NNW of Dolgelly, in Merionethshire. It was founded before 1198, and the shell of its church, with a central aisle 110 feet long, in Transition Norman, still stands. A mansion of the 16th century, called the Abbot's House, is near.
