Historical Description

Ystrad or Ystrad Rhondda, a hamlet in Ystradyfodwg parish, Glamorgan, 8 miles NW of Pontypridd, with a station on the Rhonda branch of the Taff Vale railway, and a post, money order, and telegraph office (R.S.O.) under Pentre. There is a public hall. Petty sessions and county courts are held at Ystrad. There are Baptist, Congregational, Calvinistic and Primitive Methodist, and Wesleyan chapels. Ystradfellte. See YSTEADVELLTEY. Ystradflyn, an ecclesiastical parish in Cilycwm and Llan-fairary Bryn parish, Carmarthenshire, 2 miles S of Llandovery. Post town, Llandovery (R.S.O.) It was constituted in 1875. Population, 680. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St David's; gross value, £357 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of St David's.
