Pencarreg, Carmarthenshire

Historical Description

Pencarreg, a parish in Carmarthenshire, on the river Teifi, at the boundary with Cardiganshire, between Lampeter and Llanybyther stations on the Manchester and Milford railway, and 4 miles SW by W of Lampeter. Post town, Lampeter (R.S.O.) Acreage, 10,177; population, 1096. For parish council purposes Pencarreg is divided into three wards, and has a council consisting of thirteen members and a chairman. Mynydd Pencarreg occupies a large area in the W. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St David's; net value, £110 with residence. The church is good.
