Castell Gwalter, Cardiganshire

Historical Description

Castell-Gwalter, an ancient hill-fort on the coast of Cardiganshire, 3 miles NE of Aberystwith. A castle is said to have been built on it by Walter L'Espec, and destroyed in 1135 by Owen Gwynedd, but a circular earthwork remains.
