Ash
ASH, a hamlet, in the parish of Sutton-on-the-Hill, union of Burton-Upon-Trent, hundred of Appletree, S. division of the county of Derby, 8 miles (W. S. W.) from Derby; containing 51 inhabitants. It contains 692 acres of strong land; and a neat small village, a mile east from Sutton. The place was the property of the Sleigh family, from whom it came to the Chethams, and subsequently to the Cottons. The vicarial tithes have been commuted for £83.
