Detchant

DETCHANT, a township, in the parish and union of Belford, N. division of Bambrough ward and of Northumberland, 2ΒΌ miles (N. W. by W.) from Belford; containing 178 inhabitants. It is a small village, situated on the road between Belford and Berwick-on-Tweed (which here forms a bend), and near a stream that shortly falls into the North Sea, on the east.
