Chickerell, West

CHICKERELL, WEST, a parish, in the union of Weymouth, hundred of Culliford-Tree, Dorchester division of Dorset, 3 miles (N. W. by W.) from Weymouth; containing, with the tythings of East Chickerell and Putton, 531 inhabitants, of whom 24 are in East Chickerell. The living is a rectory, valued in the king's books at £8. 16. 0½.; net income, £320; patrons, the Duke of Cleveland and the Dowager Countess of Sandwich. The tithes have been commuted for £200, and the glebe contains 45½ acres, with a glebe-house.
