Chalford

CHALFORD, a township, in the parish of Aston-Rowant, union of Thame, hundred of Lewknor, county of Oxford, 2 miles (E. S. E.) from Tetsworth; containing 58 inhabitants. This place formed part of the possessions of the monastery of St. Alban's, and on the Dissolution was granted by Henry VIII., for the sum of £413. 17. 6., to Bartholomew Piggot, from whom it passed to various families.
