Burton-Constable

BURTON-CONSTABLE, a township, in the parish of Fingall, union of Leyburn, wapentake of Hang-West, N. riding of York, 4ΒΌ miles (N. E.) from Middleham; containing 252 inhabitants. It comprises 2572 acres of land, chiefly the property of Marmaduke Wyvill, Esq., lord of the manor, who has a handsome seat, standing in a picturesque valley, with fine park land attached.
