Thirkleby
THIRKLEBY, a township, in the parish of Kirby-Grindalyth, union of Malton, wapentake of Buckrose, E. riding of York, 10 miles (E. by S.) from Malton; containing 53 inhabitants. The lands of this township, which are laid out in two farms, comprise about 1800 acres, the property of Sir Tatton Sykes, Bart. The great tithes have been commuted for £155, and the small for £12.
