Swinton
SWINTON, a chapelry, in the parish of Appletonle-Street, union of Malton, wapentake of Ryedale, N. riding of York, 2ΒΌ miles (N. W. by W.) from Malton; containing 387 inhabitants. The township is situated south of the river Rye, and comprises by computation 810 acres of land: the village is distant about a mile eastward of Appleton. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
