Stoneraise, with Brocklebank

STONERAISE, with Brocklebank, a township, in the parish of Westward, union of Wigton, Allerdale ward below Derwent, W. division of the county of Cumberland, 2ΒΌ miles (S. S. E.) from Wigton; containing 617 inhabitants, of whom 446 are in Stoneraise. In the township are the ruins of Old Carlisle, a considerable city, supposed by Horsley to have been the Olenacum of the Notitia.
