Osleston, with Thurvaston
OSLESTON, with Thurvaston, a township, in the parish of Sutton-on-the-Hill, union of Burton-uponTrent, hundred of Appletree, S. division of the county of Derby, 7½ miles (W. by N.) from Derby; containing 405 inhabitants. The township comprises 1588 acres, of which 842 are in Orleston hamlet, and 746 in that of Thurvaston; in each is a small rural village, and the township also includes the scattered village of Cropper, where the Primitive Methodists have a place of worship. The impropriate tithes have been commuted for £112. 11. 6., and the vicarial for £125.
