Llaniestyn

Llaniestyn is a parish in the hundred of Dinlaen, county of Carnarvon, 9 miles west-south-west from Pwllheli railway station, in Nevin sub-registration district, union of Pwllheli, petty-sessional division and county-court district of Pwllheli, rural deanery of Lleyn, archdeaconry of Merioneth, diocese of Bangor, situated south-east of Carn Madryn. The church, dedicated to St. Jestyn, has sittings for 350. The register of baptisms and burials date from the year 1765; marriages, 1754. The living is a rectory united with Llandegwning, average tithe rent-charge £385, net income £309, with residence, in the gift of the Bishop of Bangor, and held since 1891 by the Rev. John Davies of St. David's College, Lampeter. There are chapels for Independents and Calvinistic Methodists.

The area comprises 4,542 acres, of which 2 acres are water; the population in 1891 was 909.
