Llanbedrog

Llanbedrog is a parish and watering-place in the hundred of Gafflogion, county of Carnarvon, 4½ miles south-west from Pwllheli railway station, 2 north-east of Abersoch, and 25½ south-west from Carnarvon, registration and sub-registration districts of and union of Pwllheli, petty-sessional division and county-court district of Pwllheli, rural deanery of Lleyn, archdeaconry of Merioneth, diocese of Bangor, situated at the mouth of a small stream on the north-western shore of Cardigan bay. A narrow gauge tramway is in course of construction along the sea shore from Pwllheli to Llanbedrog. Tyny-cwmwd is a bold headland in this parish, from the summit of which extensive views of sea and mountain scenery may be obtained. The church of St. Pedrog is on the east side of the road to Pwllheli and close to the shore. The registers date from the year 1691. The living is a rectory with Llanfihangel and Llanigan, average tithe rent-charge £501, gross income £511, with residence, in the gift of the Bishop of Bangor, and held since 1880 by the Rev. James Rowlands of St. David's College, Lampeter. There are chapels for the Independents, Wesleyan Methodists and Calvinistic Methodists.

The area comprises 2,307 acres; the population in 1891 was 500.
