Aberffraw

ABERFFRAW is a considerable village and a parish in the isle of Anglesey, 2 miles south of Ty Croes station on the Chester and Holyhead line of the London and North-Western railway, 9 miles south-west from Llangefni, 16 from Beaumaris and 14 west-south-west from Menai Bridge, in Malltraeth hundred, Valley district of Anglesey second petty-sessional division, county-court district of Llangefni, Bryngwran sub-registration district, Holyhead union, Maltraeth rural deanery, archdeaconry and diocese of Bangor; pleasantly situated at the head of Aberffraw bay, where there are fine sands well adapted for bathing. The church is dedicated to St. Beuno, The registers date from the year 1720. The living is a rectory, average yearly value £669, with residence and 9 acres of glebe, in the gift of the Crown, and held since 1873 by the Rev. John Richards of Queen's College, Cambridge. There are chapels for Calvinistic Methodists and Wesleyan Methodists.

The area comprises 5,669 acres, of which 5 acres are water; the population in 1891 was 959.
