Radipole

RADIPOLE, a village 2 miles N. from Weymouth on the river Wey. The church in the Gothic style, has a nave, north and south aisles, and a chancel, the living is a rectory; opposite the church a new school house is erecting. Considerable part of this parish extends into the boundaries of the borough of Weymouth, and along the main road from Dorchester to Weymouth and reaching to the latter town, are numbers of genteel residences; here is a Roman Catholic chapel; near the turnpike road and about one mile from Weymouth, is the Radipole sulphurated hydrogen spa. At the eastern boundary of this parish adjoining Weymonth, a neat church is in course of erection. The parish comprises about 1,300 acres and had in 1841, 486 inhabitants, but has now considerably above that number.
