Everton

EVERTON is a parish on the confines of Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire, in the Northern division of the county, Biggleswade petty sessional division, rural deanery of St. Neots, archdeaconry of Huntingdon and diocese of Ely; a small detached portion of this parish surrounded by the counties of Bedford and Cambridge is, by Schedule M of the Act 2 and 3 William IV. cap. 64, declared to be part of Huntingdonshire; that portion (Tetworth) of the parish in the county of Huntingdon being in the union of St. Neots, and the remaining portion being in the union and county court district of Biggleswade. Ecclesiastically Everton is in the rural deanery of St. Neots, archdeaconry of Huntingdon and diocese of Ely. The village stands upon elevated ground, commanding an extensive view of the surrounding country, and is 2 miles north-west from Potton station on the Bedford and Cambridge section of the London and North Western railway, 2½ northeast from Sandy station on the Great Northern and London and North Western railways, 11 east from Bedford and 6 north from Biggleswade. This parish is ecclesiastically united to that of Tetworth, Hunts, having one church for the two, which is in Tetworth and described under that heading.
