Arne

ARNE, a village 4 miles E. of Wareham, lying on the coast between Poole and Wareham harbours. The living is a curacy annexed to the rectory of Wareham. On an eminence extending to the harbour is a large barrow reported to have been used as a beacon. The parish comprises about 2400 acres, and had in 1841, a population of 168.
