Thorncombe
Thorncombe is a parish, on the borders of Somersetshire and bounded on the north by the river Axe, 3 miles east-south-east from Chard Road station on the London and South Western railway and 7 north-east from Axminster; it originally formed part of Devonshire, but was annexed to Dorset by the Acts 2. & 3 William IV. cap. 64, and 7 & 8 Vict, cap. 61; it is in the Western division of the county, union and county court district of Axminster, petty sessional division of Bridport, hundred of Whitchurch Canonicorum, rural deanery of Bridport Lyme portion, archdeaconry of Dorset and diocese of Salisbury.
