Lyme Regis is a town on the sea-coast, municipal borough, market town and parish, situated 143 miles from London by road and 150 by rail, 5½ south-east from Axminster (its nearest railway station), 24 west from Dorchester, 9 west from Bridport, 16 from Sidmouth, 16 from Crewkerne, 16 from Honiton and 2 from Charmouth; it is in the Western division of the county, liberty of Loaders and Bothenhampton, petty sessional division of Bridport, Axminster union and county court district, rural deanery of Bridport Lyme portion, archdeaconry of Dorset and diocese of Salisbury.
