Thatcham is a parish intersected by the river Kennet and the Kennet and Avon canal, and is bounded on the south by the river Auburn, which separates this county from Hants, with a station 1 mile south-east from the village, on the Great Western railway, 50 miles from London, 3 miles east from Newbury and 14 south-west from Reading, in the Southern division of the county, hundred of Reading, petty sessional division, union and county court district of Newbury, and in the rural deanery of Newbury, archdeaconry of Berks and diocese of Oxford.
