Purley is a village and parish pleasantly situated on the banks of the Thames, 4 miles west-north-west from Reading and 2 east from Pangbourne railway station, in the Southern division of the county, hundred of Theale, Bradfield union, petty sessional division and county county district of Reading, rural deanery of Bradfield, archdeaconry of Berks and diocese of Oxford.
