North or Ferry Hinksey

North or Ferry Hinksey (anciently "Hengestesige," from the mythical chieftain Hengist), with the hamlet of Botley, form a parish on the western bank of the Isis, in the Northern division of the county, Hormer hundred, Abingdon petty sessional division and union, Oxford county court district, rural deanery of Oxford, archdeaconry of Berks and diocese of Oxford. The village of North Hinksey is 1 mile west from Oxford and 5½ miles north from Abingdon.
