Huntingdonshire, or Hunts

HUNTINGDONSHIRE, or Hunts, is an inland shire in the East Lowlands, near the arm of the sea called the Wash; it is very small, only Middlesex and Rutland being smaller, and Rutland only having fewer inhabitants; the shire takes its name from the town of Huntingdon; the length from north to south is nearly 30 miles, and from east to west 23; the shape is something like a lozenge; it is bounded on the north-west and north by Northamptonshire, on the north-east and east and south-east by Cambridgeshire and on the south-west by Bedfordshire.
