Catmore, with the district of Lilley, is a small and scattered village and parish, 8 miles north from Newbury, 6½ south-by-south-east from Wantage, 6 north from Hermitage station on the Didcot, Newbury and Winchester railway, and 5½ miles north-east from Shefford station on the Lambourn Valley railway, in the Southern division of the county, hundred of Compton, Ilsley petty sessional division, union and county court district of Wantage, rural deanery of Newbury, archdeaconry of Berks and diocese of Oxford.
