Sutton
SUTTON, a township, in the parish of Brotherton, Lower division of the wapentake of Barkstone-Ash, W. riding of York, 1 mile (N. E. by E.) from Ferry-Bridge; containing 52 inhabitants. The township comprises about 750 acres, and is chiefly the property of Sir John Ramsden; the soil is fertile. The river Aire pursues a devious course on the east, south, and west.
