Rickinghall-Superior (St. Mary)
RICKINGHALL-SUPERIOR (St. Mary), a parish, in the union and hundred of Hartismere, W. division of Suffolk, ¾ of a mile (S. by W.) from Botesdale; containing 768 inhabitants. It is situated on the road from Norwich to Bury St. Edmund's. The living is a discharged rectory, consolidated with that of Rickinghall-Inferior, and valued in the king's books at £19. 13. 11½.; the glebe comprises about 15 acres. The church is in the decorated English style, and consists of a nave and chancel, with a square embattled tower; the south porch is remarkably handsome.
