Laverton

LAVERTON, a township, in the parish of Kirkby-Malzeard, Lower division of the wapentake of Claro, W. riding of York, 6¼ miles (W. by N.) from Ripon; containing 487 inhabitants. The township comprises 6707 acres, of which 3992 are common or waste land: the village consists chiefly of scattered houses. Tithe rent-charges have been awarded, of which £73. 17. are payable to the vicar, and £122. 7. to Trinity College, Cambridge.
