Brook-Street

BROOK-STREET, a hamlet, in the parish of South Weald, union of Billericay, hundred of Chafford, S. division of Essex, 1½ mile (W. S. W.) from Brentwood. A free chapel, and an hospital for a master and various poor lepers, were established some time previously to the 20th of Edward I., and dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
