Brinsworth

BRINSWORTH, a township, in the parish and union of Rotherham, S. division of the wapentake of Strafforth and Tickhill, W. riding of York, 2ΒΌ miles (S. S. W.) from Rotherham; containing 241 inhabitants. It includes the hamlet of Ickles, and comprises by computation 1050 acres. During the late war, the common, now inclosed, was the scene of frequent military evolutions of the Sheffield volunteers.
