Birchfield

BIRCHFIELD, a hamlet, in the parish of Handsworth, union of West Bromwich, S. division of the hundred of Offlow and of the county of Stafford, 2 miles (N.) from Birmingham, on the road to Walsall. This place lies in the eastern part of the parish, and close to the borders of the county of Warwick. It contains a few handsome residences, the principal of which are those of William Haughton, Esq., and George Bragg, Esq.; the former a large mansion with about 76 acres of land, and the latter having about 40 acres. The other residences situated in the hamlet are small.
