Historical Description
CARBERY, an island, in the parish of SKULL, Western Division of the barony of WEST CARBERY, county of CORK, and province of MUNSTER, 16 miles (S. W.) from Bantry; containing 4 inhabitants. This small island is situated in Dunwanus bay, and comprises only six acres of land: it is very little frequented, although large ships may ride in summer on good ground any where above it, and there is excellent anchorage to the west of the island.
