Calveley, Cheshire
Historical Description
Calveley, a village and a township in Cheshire, on the Chester and Ellesmere Canal, 3½ miles SE of Tarporley, and 8 W by N of Crewe. The village has a station on the Crewe and Chester section of the L. & N.W.R. Post town, Alpraham under Tarporley. Acreage of township, 1546; population, 321. The manor belonged to Sir Hugh Calveley, the "glory of Cheshire." Calveley Hall is the chief residence.
