Historical Description
Thorpe-by-Ixworth, a parish in Suffolk, 1½ mile NNW of Ixworth, and 5 N of Thurston station on the G.E.R. Post town, Ixworth, under Bury St Edmunds. Acreage, 1065; population, 131. A Black priory was founded here in 1110. The living is a donative in the diocese of Ely; net value, £50. The church is an ancient structure of rubble in the Early English style.
