Sampford Brett, Somerset
Historical Description
Sampford Brett, a parish, with a village, in Somerset, 1½ mile SW of Williton station on the G.W.R. It has a post office under Williton; money order and telegraph office, Williton. Acreage, 1151; population of the civil parish, 216; of the ecclesiastical, 185. There is a parish council consisting of eight members. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells; net value, £270 with residence. The church is good, the seats having finely-carved oak ends. In the vestry there is a monument to De Breto, one of the four murderers of Thomas A'Beckett, who is supposed to be the founder of the living.
