Historical Description

Oake, a parish in Somerset, on the river Tone, 4 miles NNE of Wellington station on the G.W.R. Post town, Taunton; money order and telegraph office, Milverton. Acreage, 1754; population of the civil parish, 468; of the ecclesiastical, 90. There is a parish council of five members for the parishes of Oake and Hillfarrance. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells; value, £195 with residence. The church is an interesting building, and consists of nave, centre aisle, side chapel, and chancel, with a tower.
