Waterstock, Oxfordshire

Historical Description

Waterstock, a village and a parish in Oxfordshire, 1 mile N of Tiddington station on the Maidenhead and Oxford branch of the G.W.R., and 4f miles W of Thame. There is a post office under Oxford; money order and telegraph office, Great Milton. Acreage, 963; population of the civil parish, 146; of the ecclesiastical, 127. The manor, with Waterstock House, belongs to the Ashhurst family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford; net value, £186 with residence. The church is a small building of stone, chiefly modern. It has some good stained glass windows, and a monument to Sir George Croke, Bart., one of the judges in the reign of Charles I.
