Water Eaton, Oxfordshire

Historical Description

Water Eaton, a parochial chapelry and a township in the parish of Kidlington, Oxfordshire, 3½ miles N from Oxford on the Cherwell. The chapel is a good example of the revived Gotllic of the time of James I., consisting of chancel, nave, and bell gable. The manor house is an ancient gabled building, a portion only of a much larger house. It was at one time the residence of John, second Baron Lovelace. Acreage of township, 1501; population, 161.
