Historical Description

Shipton-on-Cherwell, a small village and a parish in Oxfordshire, on the Oxford and Birmingham section of the G.W.R., 1 mile N from Kidlington station, and 2½ miles E by S from Woodstock. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Kidlington, under Oxford. Acreage, 1058; population, 71. The manor belongs to the Duke of Marlborough. The living Is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford; net value, £190 with residence. Patron, the Duke of Marlborough. The church is a building of stone consisting of chancel, nave, N porch, and an embattled western tower.
