Historical Description
Ramsden, a township-chapelry in Shipton-under-Wychwood parish, Oxfordshire, on Akeman Street and in Wychwood. Forest, 3¼ miles S of Charlbury station on the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton section of the G.W.R., and 3½ N by W of Witney. It has a post office under Oxford; money order and telegraph office, Charlbury. Acreage, 920; population, 424. The manor belongs to Lord Churchill. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford; gross value, £19. Patron, the Bishop of Oxford. The church, erected in 1872 on the site of an earlier building, is an edifice of stone in the Decorated style, consisting of chancel, nave, S-aisle, and a small square tower with an octagonal broach spire. There is a Methodist chapel.
