Little Tew, Oxfordshire

Historical Description

Tew, Little, a parish in Oxfordshire, 4½ miles ENE of Chipping Norton station on the G.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Enstone. Acreage, 1679; population, 264. The manor belongs to the Brassey family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford; gross value, £139 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Oxford. The church is a modern building of stone in the Early English style. There is a Baptist chapel, and there are three almshouses and some small charities.
