Godington, Oxfordshire

Historical Description

Godington, a parish in Oxfordshire, 3 miles from Marsh Gibbon and Poundon station on the L. & N.W.R., 5½ NE of Bicester, and 5 by road from Buckingham. Post town and telegraph office, Stratton-Audley, under Bicester; money order office, Fringford. Acreage, 1019; population, 72. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford; gross yearly value, £403 with residence. Patron, Corpus Christi College, Oxford. The church was rebuilt in 1792, and is a plain building of stone. The small tower alone remains of the ancient structure.
