Claydon, Oxfordshire

Historical Description

Claydon, an ecclesiastical parish in Cropredy civil parish, Oxfordshire, on the Oxford Canal and the G.W.R., at the-northern apex of the county, 2¼ miles N by W of Cropredy railway station, and 6½ N of Banbury. Post town, Banbury "; money order and telegraph office, Farnborough. Population, 248. Blue lias rocks are here with fossils. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford; gross value, £209 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Oxford. The church is-ancient and interesting, and there is a Primitive Methodist; chapel.
