Thornage, a parish in Norfolk, 2½ miles from Melton Constable station on the Midland and Great Northern railway, and 2½ from Holt. It has a post office under Dereham; money order and telegraph office, Melton Constable. Acreage, 1262; population of the civil parish, 335; of the ecclesiastical, with Brinton, 451. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The manor belongs to Lord Hastings. The living is a rectory, united with Brinton, in the diocese of Norwich; gross value, £450 with residence. Patron, Lord Hastings. The church is chiefly Early English.
