Historical Description
Sculthorpe, a parish, with a scattered village, in Norfolk, 2 miles NW of Fakenham stations on the G.E.R. and the Midland and Great Northern Joint railways. It has a post office under Fakenham; money order and telegraph office, Fakenham. Acreage, 2107; population, 507. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The manor with Cranmer Hall, a fine spacious mansion pleasantly situated in a well-timbered park, belongs to the Jones family. There are corn mills, agricultural-implement works, and a small brass and iron foundry. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; tithe rent charge, £574 with residence. The church is of the time of Edward III., and is a building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, and an embattled pinnacled tower.
