Itteringham, Norfolk

Historical Description

Itteringham, a village and a parish in Norfolk. The village stands on the river Bure, 4 miles NW from Aylsham, and 3½ from Corpusty station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint railway, and has a post office under Norwich; money order and telegraph office, Aylsham. The parish comprises 1463 acres; population, 302. The property belongs. chiefly to the Earl of Orford and the Marchioness of Lothian. The living is a rectory, united with the rectory of Mannington, in the diocese of Norwich; Joint net value,, £219. Patron, the Earl of Orford. The church consists of nave and chancel, with a tower, and is good. The ruins of a small chapel are near the church. There are also Primitive Methodist and Wesleyan chapels.
