Historical Description
Gateley, a parish in Norfolk, on an affluent of the river Wensum, 2 miles S of Eyburgh station on the G.E.R., and 4¼ SSE of Fakenham. Post town, Dereham; money order and telegraph office, Great Byburgh. Acreage, 1516; population of the civil parish, 155; of the ecclesiastical, with Brisley, 472. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the rectory of Brisley, in the diocese of Norwich; joint net yearly value, £300 with residence. Patron, Christ's College, Cambridge. The church, a building of stone in the Gothic style, was restored in 1866.
