Nether Kellet, Lancashire

Historical Description

Kellet, Nether, a township in Bolton-le-Sands parish, Lancashire, 5 miles N by E of Lancaster, and 1½ mile from Carnforth station on the L. &N.W.R. and M.R. Post town and telegraph office, Carnforth; money order office, Bolton. Acreage, 2082; population, 293. Dunald Mill Hole is a 'curious stalactitic cavern, forming the commencement of a natural tunnel, which extends nearly 3 miles to the vicinity of Carnforth. A stream turns a mill adjacent to the cavern and then traverses the tunnel. There is a chapel of ease and a Congregational chapel.
